NFRI Visual-Enhancement Thermal Camera
South Korea’s National Fire Research Institute and KERI put a handheld thermal camera that removes smoke from the infrared picture in real time into trial use at four fire stations through November 27. The agency says the new version is 66 percent smaller and 64 percent lighter than its 2023 prototype.

tmsuk Water-Discharge Robot
Robot maker tmsuk and the Munakata District Fire Department in Fukuoka showed a prototype remote-controlled water-cannon robot built for fires crews cannot enter, such as those in tsunami-warning zones. The company says it fits on existing fire department transport vehicles and can drive with its hose attached; full operation is targeted in about two years.

Evolver DFR
Drone Nerds, part of XTI Aerospace, launched a drone-as-first-responder package that combines a Parrot ANAFI UKR GOV drone, a DBOX dock and SkyfireAI software with installation, training and FAA approval help. The company says agencies can buy it on one purchase order with no recurring subscription.

Army Blood Link
Delta Development Team and The Good Drone Company won a US Army contract to build two prototype drones that fly refrigerated blood to the field when ground transport is unsafe. The companies say each hybrid VTOL drone will carry up to six units in smart coolers that hold temperature for three hours.

SOTEN Digital Twin
SpaceData and ACSL built a digital twin of a Japanese drone test field, developed marker- and person-search functions in simulation, and say they have now run the marker search on a real SOTEN drone, from automatic takeoff to hovering over the target.

Ayudag-6
Ukrainian troops used a Gurzuf Defence Heavy Shot Ayudag-6 hexacopter and a winch to lift a wounded soldier off a mined, drone-hunted position that ground robots could not reach. The 92nd Assault Brigade calls it a world first. Gurzuf says aerial evacuation should stay a last resort.

StarGate
Ukrainian drone maker SkyFall built StarGate, a six-rotor aircraft that carries a wounded soldier on a stretcher, up to 150 kilograms, with no crew aboard. Ukraine’s 475th Separate Assault Regiment began front-line trials in mid-October. The unit says it needs at least a month before it can judge how well it works.

Vine Robot
Korea’s National Fire Research Institute sent a KAIST vine robot, a soft tube that grows forward on compressed air, into a battery warehouse after an August fire. Crews had been kept out for two weeks because heat-damaged batteries could set each other off, and tracked or legged robots were too heavy to risk. The robot completed a look inside.

LG Uplus ran SOLVIT System’s iSAR software on its own base-station and phone-connection data. In a simulated mountain case on Unjangsan, the companies say it narrowed the search area from 706.86 to 4.13 square kilometers without GPS. More trials come before any use by rescue agencies.

SoftBank and General Atomics flew a Japanese-built cell-site pod on a Japan Coast Guard SeaGuardian drone. From 3,000 meters it put phone coverage more than 5 kilometers across on the ground. It is still a trial, not a fielded service.

Notre Dame engineers, working with MIT Lincoln Laboratory, are testing SPROUT, an inflatable robot that grows up to 30 feet into rubble carrying a camera, with responders including Clay Fire’s regional team in South Bend.

VAPRE-M2 and the 9-1-1 Robot Platform
The Dominican Republic’s national 9-1-1 system showed a first-response drone, the VAPRE-M2, that streams live video from a scene while crews are en route, and a robot platform developed with Boston Dynamics for high-risk incidents.

Exoskeleton Rescue on Table Mountain
Rescuers in Cape Town fitted an exhausted 47-year-old hiker with a Hypershell battery-powered exoskeleton so she could walk down Table Mountain’s Platteklip Gorge; the team calls it the first rescue use of an exoskeleton in South Africa.

Coconino County’s sheriff’s office uses Loc8 to scan drone search photos pixel by pixel for a clothing color. Deputy Paul Clifton told Arizona’s Family the review can drop from thousands of images toward about twenty — his estimate.
